Bodies of Pain

Appearing sharp and dangerous, this piece is made entirely of knitted wire. Its silver body rises from the floor in soft folds and spikes, inviting visitors to approach and inhabit it. But despite its metallic appearance, it is flexible and soft.

The work engages with period pain not as something to be fought, but as something to be listened to. Through wearing and carrying this body, a space for care and attention is created. Transforming what first appears monstrous into an encounter with vulnerability and intimacy. Through wearing it the bodily knowledge is being transmitted.
